Every spring, 25,000 sandhill cranes flock to the Columbia Basin on their way from California to Alaska. They stop off in the Othello, Washington, area to feed and gain strength for the last leg of their journey to their breeding grounds. They feed in the corn fields and bulk up for their non-stop jaunt. The cranes have just begun arriving the last week or so.
To celebrate this event, the Othello Sandhill Crane Festival was organized. This year will mark the 13th annual festival, which takes place March 26, 27 and 28.

Hello!
Welcome to my new blog. I'm planning to use this blog strictly to post my photos. Although I take many photos for the newspapers, etc., I write for (and you will see some of them here, too), I also love to take wildlife photos and random shots here and there. I won't have much writing on this blog. It's to highlight my photos, so any writing will simply be descriptions. By the way, these are my photos and not meant to be used for public domain. They are copyrighted by me.
